Product Description

Alum, mainly composed of potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, has antibacterial and astringent properties and is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is traditionally believed to have detoxifying, insecticidal, moisture-reducing, antipruritic, hemostatic, antidiarrheal, and expectorant effects, with studies also showing antibacterial and anti-trichomoniasis activity.

It is used in some traditional treatments and widely applied in the production of aluminum salts, baking powder, paints, tanning agents, clarifiers, mordants, papermaking, and waterproofing materials. However, excessive intake of alum may cause aluminum accumulation in the body and interfere with the absorption of nutrients such as iron and calcium, potentially affecting health.
