Product Details of MelamineCAS#108-78-1

Melamine is a nitrogen-rich triazine organic compound widely used as an industrial chemical. It appears as a white crystalline powder with little odor and is slightly soluble in water but readily dissolves in formaldehyde, acetic acid, hot ethylene glycol, glycerol, and pyridine, while remaining insoluble in acetone and ether.

Melamine is not approved for use in food processing or as a food additive due to its potential health risks. However, it has been illegally added to certain dairy products to falsely increase measured protein content by raising nitrogen levels.
