(±)-Methionine CAS#59-51-8

Essential Amino Acid Nutrition: (±)-Methionine is an essential sulfur-containing amino acid that supports protein synthesis and metabolic methylation, promoting growth and enhancing nutritional value.

Widely Used Feed & Food Additive: As a common nutritional fortifier, it supplies the first limiting amino acid for livestock and improves protein utilization in feed and food products.

Versatile Multi-Industry Applications: In addition to animal feed and food, it is widely used in pharmaceuticals, biochemical reagents, cosmetics and microbial culture media.

Excellent Formulation Compatibility: Its high purity, good water solubility and stable properties make it a valuable ingredient in various liquid and solid industrial and commercial formulations.

Product Description of (±)-Methionine CAS#59-51-8

DL-Methionine appears as white flaky crystals or a crystalline powder. It has a characteristic odor and a slightly sweet taste. Its melting point is 281°C (with decomposition). A 10% aqueous solution has a pH of 5.6–6.1. It is optically inactive and stable against heat and air, though unstable in strong acids, which can cause demethylation. It is soluble in water (3.3 g/100 mL at 25°C) as well as in dilute acid and dilute alkaline solutions; it is very sparingly soluble in ethanol and practically insoluble in diethyl ether.
