Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) is a clear to slightly yellow liquid with a characteristic pungent odor. It has limited solubility in water and reacts slowly when exposed to aqueous media. The product has a relative density of approximately 1.05 at room temperature. Its boiling point is approximately 255–261°C, while its freezing/melting point ranges from -67 to -55°C. The saturated vapor concentration is about 46 mg/m³ at 20°C and 137 mg/m³ at 30°C.
