Product Description of Silane, dichlorodimethyl-, reaction CAS#68611-44-9
Silica dimethyl silylate (SiO₂ base), alternatively named dimethyldichlorosilane-treated fumed silica, hydrophobic pyrogenic silica or DMDCS-modified silica, is a surface-modified inorganic additive that controls rheological behavior, suppresses particle settling and reinforces polymer matrices. It is produced by treating fumed silica with dichlorodimethylsilane to convert the hydrophilic surface to hydrophobic. Beyond core industrial uses, it is also extensively applied in personal care, pharmaceutical and material modification fields.

Product Application of Silane, dichlorodimethyl-, reaction CAS#68611-44-9
In cosmetic applications, it serves as a thickening stabilizer and anti-caking agent in powders, foundations and skin care products, and can be used as an alternative to hydrophilic silica thickeners in water-in-oil emulsions, ointments and various cream formulations. Industrially, it acts as a rheology modifier for coatings and inks to prevent sagging and pigment settling, a reinforcing filler for silicone rubber and plastic composites, and a flow aid for pharmaceutical powders and toners. It is manufactured via surface treatment of fumed silica with dichlorodimethylsilane.
